Muffin tins

My muffin tins are getting a lot of action in the last couple of weeks, too bad there aren't any actual muffins in them. You might remember we made play dough muffin last week. I was trying to get some laundry folded and put away so I came up with this idea for him to play with in the hall. He loved taking the balls out and rolling them to me. As I ran around the house putting laundry away I would roll the balls back to him. Little Loaf and Freckle Foot found this in the morning and they liked playing with it too. Little Loaf turned the muffin tin upside down and put the balls under it and it looked like it was floating. Who needs toys when you have mom's kitchen tools.

Our trip to the Ocean

Our annual trip to Ocean Shores Little Loaf is hanging with his little Cousin P. They are exactly 6 months apart and love each other.

 Freckle Foot and Cousin E found another beach fort to play in this year. Freckle Foot enjoyed the beach a little more than last year. The trick was taking her to the beach when it wasn't very windy.

She loved digging in the sand. We had to make a few holes big enough for her to fit her whole body in. After days at the beach we hung out at the condo.

  Freckle foot was very generous sharing her pop cycle with "the babies" as she calls them.

The babies were having fun peeking at each other. They would take turns climbing through the middle of the table. It was a great way to start our summer.

Every time we spend with family we end up playing a game called Zonk. It's a dice game that we get a little competitive about. Freckle Foot found her own games to play with the dice. She lined them all up on the coaster. Why buy toys when you have coasters and dice. Freckle Foot put all the dice in her brothers dirty sock then transferred them to a cup. What fun!

Flour Fun

This is one of Little Loaf's first high chair activities. I had that bag of flour left over that Freckle Foot play with while I did my Christmas baking.

Both the kids were very content. In the end,  I just patted them down to get the flour off and swept the deck. We all enjoyed this activity.

Baby Activity

We got this container with rings from our neighbor. There were only a couple of rings that came with the toy and Little Loaf wanted to do more. I rounded up all the baby food lids I could find. This is one of his favorite activities.

Our first Picnic- In February?

Well this is another late post. We had a beautiful stretch of weather a few weeks ago that I decided we had to have a picnic on the deck. Freckle Foot has been refusing to wear shoes outside even in February.

The kids were able to play in the sandbox for a while. Little Loaf really enjoyed playing with the sandbox for the first time. There was lots of sand in the bottom of my tub that night.

More Valentine's Activities

I found this tracing activity at Confessions of a Homeschooler. Freckle Foot loves her Preprinting with Mazes book so I thought I would see if she was interested in this tracing page. She prefers her maze book.

One of my friends came up and brought a car load of craft supplies that her neighbor was giving away.  I found these silk stuffed hearts. Freckle Foot and Little Loaf both enjoyed this activity. I just gave them this empty diaper wipes container. The had fun putting the hearts in and out. In fact I am still not sure where all the hearts are because the hid them all over the house.

New toy, new use

Freckle Foot got this animal hospital for Christmas (that's the toy with all the doors). She played with it as a animal hospital using the keys and all the little animals I bought to put behind the door, for about a day. Then she thought it was a great idea to transfer all of the blocks into the little compartments. So we have a new toy with a new use already. Little Loaf played with it for about a 20 minutes. He was suppose to be napping but he enjoyed not having his sister take over the activity.

More Rice

Freckle Foot has been having a difficult time lately. I am not sure if the growth spurt or adjusting to her brothers new found motility. I thought I would bring out an activity that I know is very soothing for her. I dyed rice orange and green back in October but forgot to get this activity out for her. I tucked the orange rice away for another day but got out the green rice, a few spoons and a container. It was amazing to watch how calm and relaxed she got while playing with the rice. I had to do this activity while Little Loaf was sleeping or in his high chair because he would have tried to eat all the rice on the floor. Freckle Foot's hands did turn green after playing with the rice. Does anyone know how to dye rice so the color won't bleed?

Freckle Foot's Rummaging

Today started early Little Loaf was up at 5:30 am. He is still fighting the cold that Freckle Foot and I had. We all headed to Grandma's house to help her with her new computer. While we were there I printed off some Color Matching Cards to use later.

After her nap Freckle Foot was rummaging through the house and found Times to Treasure Cards. I forgot I had these. All she wanted to do is take them in and out of the box. Although there are pictures on one side of the cards and I would ask her to name the object. She was also able to identify if the card was upside down. I think I will use these later to put in the Phonic Bags.
